Former Robben Island Museum CFO loses bid to access pension payout
Is accused of misrepresenting his membership of Saica.
The Pension Funds Adjudicator has dismissed an application by former Robben Island Museum chief financial officer Karabo Ramela to access retirement funds of R389 534 after finding prima facie grounds for withholding payment over allegations that he had misrepresented his membership of the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (Saica) at the time he was employed.
Ramela was employed at Robben Island Museum (RIM) for roughly two years until June 2025. He was dismissed following a disciplinary hearing over allegations that he had falsely claimed to be a Saica member.
