Government takes aim at illegal offshore gambling sites after public outcry

More than R50bn in gross gambling revenue bleeds out of SA each year to illegal operators.

Government is taking steps to curb SA’s runaway gambling problem which is reckoned to make more than R56 billion a year for licensed operators in SA – and even more for illegal sites operating offshore but targeting South Africans.

The National Gambling Board (NGB) has issued a tender for a service provider capable of monitoring, blocking, tracking and reporting illegal online gambling websites targeting South Africans.
